Shrimp and such sounds great. Oysters not so much this time of year. May, June, July, August not good months for them according to legend.

Keep on keepin on!!!
Checking shrimp prices at the 2 retail shops on the beach, $10 per lb plus $2 to steam if you want them ready to eat.
Kroger will put a sale on every now and then. Large/jumbo $8.50 to $10 per lb. These have shell split and deveined.
I hope to find prices a lot less at the marina.
what scrat said. i go to that marina twice a year to buy shrimp. if you go there's a restaurant called mcelroy's in the harbor. its hard to beat.
Be sure to eat at the Harbor Grill if you stay for a few days.
25 years ago we were in New Orleans for clinic for my son. We stayed off of Bourbon st for the nights. One club had All you can eat shrimp dinner for $6 per person. A cart was brought to the table with a bucket of ice and pitchers of our drinks. Another cart was brought to the table with large bowls of slaw, baked beans, wedged lemons, Old Bay seasoning and cocktail sauce. Then a large pan was brought out with the shrimp. In with the shrimp were heads, shells, rocks, wood and seaweed. The shrimp were all different sizes.
We checked at a marina to bring some home. What we were served was first off the boat without culling, $2.10 per pound. Large/jumbo headless were $3.75 per pound.
That's about the price I was thinking CliffordN. Where do I need to go to find this boat?
No oysters for me, not in June.
