We are in the process of starting a petition to the MDWFP and the US Fish and Wildlife Service to place some kind of guidelines on guiding public waters in Mississippi.

Anyone that uses these resources can see the immense pressure this is causing the top crappie destinations in the US.

    We need input

So what type of guidelines? I agree we need to keep a watch on these resources, but which fisheries are suffering so badly? If I can go fish two weekends in a row and limit or catch a good mess of solid fish, I don't see the issue. Now Enid may not have the numbers of big fish, but it sure has a ton of fish in it.

Which lakes are there cause for concern?

And I know in one message I received there was talk of a very steep guiding fee. I know most Guides would pay for a permit or license, but a five figure fee seems out there.

Torch, I hope you know I'm not trying to be abrasive, just trying to see what lakes are suffering and what the actual guidelines are that are being considered.

In a lot of states guides have to have a license and have to have liability insurance
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Mo did you see the lines at all the boat ramps this spring??
Yeah we can catch limits now because we have gone from 30 fish 10" limit to a 15 12" limit. But 5 or 6 years down road are we going to 10 fish 13 or 14" limit?

Needs to be rules or guidelines so everything is on even playing field

they would be better off banning trolling and yoyo fishing during the spawning season

While we are at, why not just close the season during the spawn...... Pandora's Box right there. Once we start banning something that one group does not like, next thing you know, they will be banning something you like.

I do think some limits on guides are probably in line. I know of one outfit that posted 60 plus fish photos on social media almost every day during the spawn. Not sure how to do it, but maybe a season limit should be in place. Like deer and turkey?

Not wanting to ban anything. Just get it regulated

I bet most guides don't know if some one gets hurt most boat insurance will not cover it because of a commercial use clause

Yeah Torch. I was just playing the devil's advocate. I believe there is no difference in how the fish are caught. In the end, the only thing that matters is how many fish are pulled out of the lake. They are a limited resource.

Line's at boat ramps ? Uh...due to low water your going to have to use 1-2 ramp's = long line. That and spring. Gonna have to come up with something better. Just my 2©.
