Cool...... I've always been amused by the holier than thou single pole guys who think the way they fish is superior. Not that you are one, and I'm not bashing, I like to feel a thump now and again myself. I just never could figure how they think holding one pole requires more skill than watching four. I mean, a blind dummy can "feel the thump".

You absolutely right a blind dummy could feel a thump. Now tell me what kind of skill it takes to ride around and see where all the boats are and go oh they must be biting in there cause that's where all the boats are now I know your a good fisherman and not saying you do that but how many times have you seen it done or how many calls have you gotten from someone for a report cause they have no clue how to find the fish unless they see boats piled up in one area or you hold their hand and take them to the spot.

Take it easy everyone. No flame wars, or in this case, technique wars. Fish any way you want or can. Its all good.

And I agree, I love the thump. But problem is, tendinitis or whatever it is from using a mouse all my life, I just can't hold the pole that long. On top the fact that I can't stand for long times cause of my bad back. And I like to stand when I one pole. So having options and choices to fish for the fish I love is what makes crappie fishing so great.

yeah..... I typically try to ease away from the crowd. Even so....most don't catch fish. Ninety percent of guiding is telling the client he has a bite. They might would catch them if they held the pole, but I wouldn't bet on it. Go to and area with three or four guides spider rigging with clients and you'll constantly hear " #2, #4, #1, etc.

You're right Slab, it's all good. Just always find it funny when people are snobby about their preferred method.

Feelay I didn't take his post offensive but "Slab" I sure can see how some could. It takes skill to consistently catch crappie no matter what method. When you "push" one method your gonna get feedback. I personally started fishing with one pole thumping until I started fumbling around with 8 poles and x amount of dollars worth of crank baits. Never looked back! I enjoyed the pics an post.

    BO

While I still consider myself a 'single poler', I have experienced trolling around and waiting for one of the trolling rods to bend/twitch. BOTH are enjoyable to me...
I, for one, don't care if someone else is catching fish and I'm not because I know the roles will reverse on the next trip. I like to share information and be a good ambassador to the sport of crappie fishing. It doesn't bother me for someone to see me catching fish as I'm not trying to hide how/what I'm doing.

I'll post one final time on this thread. If the title to this thread is offensive to someone then the problem lies with them! I simply can't understand how anyone could take offense to someone else enjoying feeling the bump of a fish taking a bait/lure while fishing.. Basketball players love the 'swish' of NOTHING-BUT-NET... Do the other players that bank the ball off the backboard take offense that the other players like the 'swish'? NO THEY DON'T...

    Come on people...
