Man glad to hear I'm not the only one that hurts the day after fishing.
Gcor gave me a text friday night while I was at an auction. His son doesn't want to go fishing, would I like to join him in the morning. Man, I've been working on these target traps, got two to paint and deliver to the school monday morning. Suppose to rain sunday evening and monday morning so I say yes.
He's here at 5 am to pick me up and we head out. I haven't seen 5 am since I retired. The shore is lined with lights, as the sun comes up the shore is lined with people. We see a few big ones being dragged up the shore as we pick out what he thinks will be the best spot. Next thing I know he finds a big one and I find a throw back. The wind shifts from the east and the bite is off. We fish a lot more spots without luck. Don't see any bank fishermen bringing in any.
We load the boat and drive around checking other spots. Don't see anyone catching so we head home. 6 to 11 is enough time on the boat for these old bones. My waist is sore this morning. Got to do a few exercises before next trip.
Man glad to hear I'm not the only one that hurts the day after fishing.
I put 2 coats of red paint on the traps before leaving. I went back today, kinda late to the same place we were catching yesterday, but from the bank this time. Yep, kinda late, didn't see the first fish caught. I threw in one time, as soon as the float hit the water it went down. I knew it wasn't a crappie when I started reeling. A white bass. Well the chickens got a meal when I got home. I got the traps in just as the rain started. I did another coat then came in for dinner.

Wow! I am SO GLAD TO HEAR THIS... I thought that my eyes were playing tricks on me... I also spent the day on the Lake with No Name. I also failed to see a single fish landed from single poling boats or spider rigging boats or folks wading or folks standing on the banks. I started thinking that I must have missed something. I did have my cork go under one time and pulled up about a 2.5 lb largemouth...
At least I'm not the only one feeling skunked, not knowing how to crappie fish, etc... But, in the end, we all had a blast and fishing without catching any fish is still better than a very productive day of work...
i got frustrated and loaded up the boat and drove a little further south and caught 20 til the rain came in on us.

There were 2 guys leaving when I was. They each had a basket load of big crappie, 12 or more. Said they had been there since day lite. Hadn't caught a thing the last 4 hours.
Got to watch the weather, still in a rain watch, but I think it's gone for the day. Deliver these 2 traps to school before 3 pm then drive down and try again.
Gcor, if I get there early enough I may text you for info needed for an annual launch permit.
Man, this wet weather can mess up latex paint. What I could touch yesterday can hold finger prints today. Hope I can deliver tomorrow.
