    Default Crank pulling ?

I read a lot about pulling cranks the last week or so. I have not seen this brought up. The question is about how offen do you lose a rod pulling out the back. Can you make up sometype of floatier or something on your back rods to keep them if being pulled out by a cat/hangup.

Some of my rods have the rod floats from Cabelas on them but this is not a problem unless I am fishing with Ms. Tammy or Ms. Goodtime, they both have thrown rods out of the boat, never lost one to a fish or hang up.
Knightshadow and I had one come out on a trot line one time but that was on us, let the rod get pointed straight toward the hang up while reeling the others in, bait was hung on the line so we recovered it pretty easy.

Just don't let the rod be pointed straight at the bait, like totally in line, slightest angle will hold it.

I cut a 12 inch piece of pool noodle foam and taped it between the reel and first eye on my short rods I use off the back. I've never lost a rod off the back or side while pulling.

I use the rod floats from bp or cabelas as I have lost a rod or two before doing this. They can be dropped in a flurry and 3-4 dollar investment beats $80 for another rod and reel

I'm with reese, do not point your rod at the bait, if fact i place mine at 90 degrees via using different length rods, also I use spiderlok holders, very stable and low profile thumb bar bait casters with drag set to release when crank bait comes to a halt or hooks a fish that is obviously not a crappie..
