    Default Pushin with 14' Southerns

How much weight will a 14' Southern rod handle pushin cranks or jigs with speed around 1.5??? Could you put 2-3oz in weight on that rod?

You could try it but they really were designed for 1/2 oz and spider rigging. He came out with another 14 just for pushing cranks. Ducker has a set of those and uses them for spider rigging also. ScottV did a review on the pushing pole and it performed very similar to the PST. Most I have run on mine was 1 oz and they handled that just fine. Hope this helps.

They will handle it, they gonna bend, I call it loading up, but they will do the job.

I just got 2 14 ft. that were made for 2 oz. weights. Haven't used them yet, but they seem very good. I have used 2 oz. weights before on every jig pole I have and they work ok. Like Rees said, a little more bend but they work.

Get the 143T models from Ed at Southern Crappie Rods. I have pushed with 2 and 3 oz weights and they bend less than any trolling type rod I've used. I've been on Ed's butt to get 12' and 16' models out there for sale. The 16s will be out before Christmas.

A buddy of mine was fishing with my 143Ts recently and I asked him to be honest in his evaluation of them. He said the only thing he could see that was bad about them was they belong to me and not him.

I love my 143t's! Spider rig, push, pull, it don't matter!
