    Default Thermocline question

Is this the thermocline starting around 15 feet? It seems to clear up if I'm in 20 feet of water and comes back in the deeper waters.

This is just my opinion, depending on what lake you are on. I have seen the same thing on the Corps lakes when they start pulling water pretty good. I think the current that is created stirs up and picks up a lot of sediment and creates what appears to be a Thermocline when in reality it's a sediment line. It could be thermocline but seems a little to early in the year to have such a defined line at that depth unless it's a pretty stable lake.

I'm going to say it is the beginnings of a thermocline layer. I am already seeing similar on KY Lake in some major creeks. They haven't been pulling much current lately. Last summer in July and August the thermocline was much denser here.

I saw the same thing on Okatibbee last week and was wondering the same thing. The pictures they show in the manuals show a thermocline line as just a few feet deep on the depthfinder. I figured this is where the density change in the water reflects the sonar signals. I also see what I'm sure are fish down below the line. It also seems to go deeper during the day. I was wondering if it might not be plankton and invertebrate or what not that bream, shad etc. feed on. It's definitely there on both my depthfinders. Interested in the experts input on this also.
Thanks dad for teaching me to love crappie fishing!!

Saw the same thing in the river channel at Enid the other day. Went away as soon as I got out of the river. Right at 20 ft
