    Default Stealing marker bouys

Last weekend we wanted to take a break from chasing crappie on Barnett and planned a catfishing trip. Early afternoon we found a likely spot not far from Roses Bluff, and put out about 15 lbs. of range cubes to attract catfish to our spot and marked it with a new orange marker bouy. Around 5:30 we headed back to the spot to do some tightlining only to find that our marker was gone. We couldn't find our spot and ended up with an almost empty cooler.
If you see a marker buoy and no boats close by don't assume that the owners forgot it and just left it. If it's not yours the leave it alone.

Bottom line. If you didn't put it out, leave it alone.

reason I dont use them, that and they are just targets when someone sees them. Last weekend there were 3 out on a creek bank at Tibby, 2 of them had boats working them and the other just west of them with no one in sight. Drug my outside crank right along beside it and caught the biggest fish of the day. I use a GPS, dont attract near as much attention that way.

Use a bleach bottle or oil jug instead. They will think it's a trot line and leave it alone.

    Learn to triangulate.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Sorry for the loss, but once you leave it on public water or property ...its fair game.

Can't fool me. You know how to triangulate. You have been fishing pre-gps days.
