I have talked with COE about the useless ramp. They realize that changes must be made to the ramp, but river flooding this spring (that's what gave us 262'+ in Sardis) has kept them from doing any actual work. The idea is to add riprap weirs on the upper and lower sides of the ramp to keep the river from dropping all the silt on the ramp. They say it works on other rivers. They do not have equipment to clean off the ramp at the current high water level. With all the wind we have had, the ramp could have been used a lot this spring.

I am glad to hear they are willing to try and fix it, have my doubts about just rip rap doing the job tho, bet it will take some sort of retaining wall on the upstream side. That river sure looked good yesterday and on a less windy day I would have come back up from Wyatt's but I haven't done that in years, like 25. Last time I fished up there was in a St Jude tourney and we went over the road because the water was so hi.

COE did mention a type of weir wall that they use on the Mississippi, but I didn't remember the specific name. I remember the "over the road" flooding in the early '90s. I was coming to Oxford from Holly Springs and had to detour up Hwy. 78 thru New Albany to get home. I see that they made the new bridge and approaches quite a bit higher.

THE new bridges is really nice, the parking lot is really nice but the ramp itself is awful...
