I don't think it's ever gonna happen. MDWFP has been trying, but to no avail. Welcome to the site!
Hi all, I'm new to the site obviously, and thanks for having me. Ole rookie title once again it seems.. lol. If your experiencing life to the fullest and trying new things, then you will always be a rookie, not a bad thing.
To the topic, As forementioned, in my topic along with my lack of knowledge of this great site. I searched Lakeview / Horn Lake. I only managed to find forums (threads) dating back to 2010-2011.
I remember having great times on this natural public owned oxbow lake for many years before the land surronding it was sold once again. My question is, will this lake every be accessed again by the public? I have heard a distant rumor of the MDWFP possibly stepping in and allowing a public boat access to this lake in the possibly near future.

I hate to hear that. That was a great lake and a treasure to north Mississippi and West Tennessee (crappie, bass, bream etc.) fishermen all over. Do those duck guys even fish it, or is it overrun with asian carp by now? Runout was always heating up around this time. .what a shame.
I went over there several times after it went private. Never saw any duck hunters and never heard any shots during duck season. It's probably like all the other oxbows that connect to the river......overrun with Asian Carp! I use to fish it alot, but I wrote it off years ago! It is totally blocked with steel gates and No Trespassing signs with warnings to prosecute! Sad to say....I'd forget about it!
Thank you armyman for the response and the kind welcome! Just hate to let a good lake go. Guess there are other slabs in the sea...
Losing Horn Lake and North Lake did some damage to the Memphis midsouth area. The last time on the Cut Off it was full of Asian carp so I know these two will be too.
Welcome on.
Yep carp have ruined it!!
Pulled nets all last week, got 5000#s Buffalo. 300# cats. Very few ac. Mostly grass carp
That's no good, not trying to pry and you do not have to answer. How are you getting onto the lake are you allowed in by the MDWFP or the landowners to keep some sort of population control of the carp out there? You don't have to worry about me trying to sneak in there or anything, I'm not a fan of carp or buffalo.. lol.
No this was on my oxbow lake, south of Lakeview & the Tunica Cutoff. My lake is 800 ac. I can tell already in only 2 years that the numbers & size of sport fish have improved.
