On this day in 1945, U.S. Marines raised the American flag on Iwo Jima. ‪#‎ProudAmerican‬

Just for fun, anybody know the stars from yesteryear who were on the island during the battle for Mt. Sarbachi(sp) ?
One was a tv star, the other a movie star. May very well be more than two.

I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for America's greatest generation. Not a lot of those guys left but for those who are, you have my deepest respect and heartfelt appreciation for the service you gave this nation.

Amen to all of that. Men back then had Grit.....today, men that age have 'entitlement syndrome".... no doubt which wins conflicts/wars. For a clear understanding of how ill prepared we were the months leading up to the war, read the first 45 pages of Dick/Liz 'Chaney's book. The true heart and soul of the American spirit came to the fore during that time. Not sure we have the resolve for that kind of effort again......not with this leadership and the way kids are being raised nowadays. In case you're wondering, we're in the THIRD generation of me, me, me. Hate saying it, but it's the truth....far as I can tell. I'd love for someone to factually prove me wrong. PLEASE!!!!!

It is amazing to see the things this generation did...with good leadership...Don't. Sell the new generation too short. I have 2 Grandsons that are full time Guard, and one that is a Marine...I am damn proud of all of them, and will put their abilities up to test against any other...The difference is LEADERSHIP. I worked with each one before they went to basic..All three excelled..As far as Commander in Chief....I hate to think he has the lives all military in his hands...Pretty sad state of affairs...Each time you see a Veteran of any war/conflict..take time to shake their hand, and thank them...God Bless them All...
