Hit or miss, you will know if they are catching them by the pressure in the old river run, when its good you can walk across the boat. They catch em in the main river too but seems the old river run is easier, for me anyway.
Went to grenada lake spillway last week and caught a few white bass and a few small crappie. It was my first time at grenada lake and watching people snag for crappie was a new experience for me, but I didn't feel bad because they weren't catching much of anything either. Does anyone know whether or not the spillway is a good spot for crappie in the spring once they are in spawning patterns?

The old river run is where the boat ramp is below the spillway at grenada. It runs all the way back to the emergency spill way and out to the river. There can be good fishing in there early in the year, but once the word gets out someone caught a cooler full it will be packed. You can also take a clip on cork and a double jig rig and go up by the mouth of the spill way in early spring and wear them out. Just depends like rees said its hit or miss.

Old River Run. I'm sure there are days when there has been a steady bite but I haven't been there those times. My experience most often has been very slow most of the time and then turn on real hot for an hour or so, then off. I don't fish there a lot, but some. You can catch some real good ones in there.
If the wind is terrible on the main lake and I were visiting here and just really wanted to fish that's an option but I am with you Boatbottom, I rarely fish in there.

Heard a report from the old river run today. Lot of fish but small, very small apparently. However, that sounds a lot better than sitting in this office right now.

Well I guess when I go in the spring I will have a rod rigged for white bass in case it's one of those bad crappie days
When I lived in Water Valley this was my first trip every year . There are some pigs there every year . I can never remember burning them up there because when they are biting there you will be required to bring your own stump to fish . To many great places on Grenada at that time .
