    Default Longlining 101

Never done this before, but would like to learn. I've read enough about it to know that most people prefer different length rods for line separation. I use B&M PST's in 16,12, and 8' lengths for pulling cranks off the side. Can I use these same poles and the Okuma line counter reels I have on them for long longlining jigs? Or are these poles too stiff for this? Any other general information on this technique would be appreciated. There may already be a thread on this, and if so please direct me to it.

I think there is a LL guru over on the GA board, may ask over there.
