    Default Basic Crappie Set up

Lets just say I only have one crappie pole a BnM 11 foot Ultra Lite best ive used it for jigging tons and caught lots of fish. Its the only crappie combo that i have at all. I want a cheap basic setup so that I can troll for crappie. I'm looking for 4 combos to get me started...what would you recommend? and can I use that BnM Ultra lite for trolling?

Also for pulling cranks, if I ever gave that a try do yall use or could i use the same combos as I use for trolling?

Also this is a few pics of my boat. 1652...I have 4 rod holders up front that swivel at all directions will those work? or do I absolutely need to buy a spider rig set that has them all 4 together?

First off, the most main thing you need to do is keep the pretty lady in the back of the boat happy. If she ain't happy, your fishin days are limited. NOW......there are plenty of guys that know WAAAAY more bout the basic set up than me and I'm sure they will be back to you when the time allows. I would start with a four-five rod holder positioned up front and get comfortable manipulating rods and nets and minner buckets and in general jus get comfortable with all the gear. You'll figure out what suits you best, along with some good advice from the guru's on this site. Now go back and read the first sentence......have fun!!

lol well she loves to go...so just about anytime i get ready to go we are gone, hence the reason I have that brand new 2015 E-tech on the back, she was tired of the old 89 mariner tearing up and not getting to fish much.

Fisherman's Factory Outlet: Shakespeare Womens Reel
Get you 4 of these reels and get 4 12 ft Pinaclle rods from Grizzly Jig for 60.00. Get a spool of 10 lb Hi Viz P-line from them. Spool up and go fishing. Work great to get you started and though they are kind limber you can still pull cranks with them. Then if you really like it you could upgrade as finances allow. Those rod holders will work fine.

Get yourself 4 12' cane poles and your trolling. It's that simple. When I first started I used every pole I had including cane poles. Caught my biggest one on a cane pole. Over the years I made a little purchase each year to get the setup I like. Use bass rods with the cranks. Keep your jig pole for jigging. Keep everything simple and the same. Make sure all 4

Sent message too early. I use 12' bnm pst rods with okuma line counter reels. $70 combo. I use them pushing minnows and pulling cranks. Reels can be heavy for pushing but they get the job done. I push heavy weights anyway. I would mount 2 more of those rod holders on the next bench seat. That way you can pull 6 cranks. You did not go wrong with the etec. Let your wife pick the crank colors that works every time.

Im loving the new etech. Its got a trolling feature on it where if I wanted to I could use the big motor to pull cranks at anywhere from .3 mph all the way up to whatever I need. Its got an rpm adjustment with the click of a button it will slow down or speed up.

There's another website that offers reconditioned reels at a great price. I don't have it and couldn't find it in Off Topic.

Walmart has different size post for the seats. My girls didn't like the tall 16" post, so I got them an 11" post.
