Ok we have had a little discussion and some good laughs, but it's all good.
But till we find out what percentage of fish the fishermen are taking out of the lake the discussion is a mute point, right?
Just say the fishermen take 15% of the legal fish out of the lake and 15% stay in the lake, some die off and 50% go out of the outlet channel at Enid, if this is the case then the fishermen, how many poles they use is irreverent wouldn't you say?
No if the fishermen are taking 30% and the rest of the numbers are the same then maybe limits need to be changed?
But yet again it goes back to these lakes are for flood control, the fishing is a bonus, we have all heard this, right?
I was hoping someone on here knew the estimated number that the fishermen take out of the lake each year. If I had more time I would research it.
Anyway, I will follow the rules whatever they may be, even though it gets confusing sometimes from lake to lake. But it's all good, any day I'm above ground and get to fish and not have to work is a good day.
Yall gentlemen carry on, and Wannabe as well.
It's CRAPPIE season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so the spawn 3 years ago would be a direct relation on the number of keeper fish this year. Thanks for clearing that up.
But regardless of how long it takes, we still don't know the percentage of the fish the fishermen take out of the lake each year.

No but this does explain all of the 11 7/8 fish in the spring of 2012. By the fall the keepers were starting to show up and 2013 was a phenomenal year. I have not been on Enid yet this year but from most reports I received it was a pretty good spring. My question would be where is this concern last year when the fishing was great? Seems folks only have these concerns when the fishing is not to their liking.

Actually the answer to your question is NO. I have wondered this for a while. There have been discussions on here about the number of fish that go out the outlet channel and discussions about pole and creel limits. Just wondering what the percentage the fishermen catch of the harvest-able fish.
I my opinion you can pretty well judge the spring spawns on the numbers of almost legal fish you catch the summer before. In the spring of 2012 we caught tons and tons for 11 1/2 to 11 3/4 fish, well as you said last spring (spring of 2013) everyone caught fish, and last summer we caught lots and lots of keepers pulling cranks, but we didn't catch that many throw backs. So I told my buddies, that I didn't expect this spring (2014) to be that good cause of what we seen pulling, and from everyone I seen and talked to on the lake the spawn wasn't good for them.
With that said we will see how the pulling is this summer and we can see if my analogy holds true.

Here is an answer regarding the spillway from a biologist from on old post.
