And if you are gonna fish a BIG PAYOUT type tourney you would most likely exspect to be weighing on good scales, I for one would. Big payout, whether crappie or bass, dont just happen thats the reason I mentioned sponsorship in the beginning. If you think we had some drama after the Butla tourney have a first prize of 2000 bucks and a tie with scales that wont measure into the hundredeths, gonna get deep. The bigger you play the bigger the price.

i'm not blaming anyone, (although most bass feeshermen have an attitude of "hey, i'm tournament feesh'n and you need to get out of my way"), almost all of them are weekend Bill Dance wantabee's "i'm showing my age here", who have 40-50k in a boat and don't know where next months rent money is coming from. I also understand about city council people wanting to draw buisiness to their towns, but if tournaments are held willy nilly all over the place then it cheapens the impact each one can have on an area. Crappie tournament fishing is here to stay, it is a good thing, it's a great way to explore and promote our sport. Just don't let it get out of hand, if you want to have some input on tournaments then participate in the clubs that already exist.

Most of the time the chamber in that town has some input as to tourney dates and events held on the lakes around them. From a business stand point you really cant blame em, their chamber members that own resturants, hotels, bait shop would much rather know a tourney is coming to town and their business will be up than hoping you and I are gonna have the day off to fesh. Tourneys bring in alot of business for communities and with out them there would be alot less bait shops being able to make it, most struggle as it is. There is room for both, I just change lakes myself if there is a big tourney on Grenada but I am fortunate enuff to live within 45 minutes of 3 of the Big Four.

I tried a bass circuit one year after winning some local tourneys, not only did I get my butt handed to me but it took the fun out of it for me.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
