Get you some of those cover support poles so the water won't puddle in the lower spots. I have em cheap.

I ran a rachet strap from the bow to the stern across the two seats to help with this...

Inbetween fishing trips (or long layoffs), I keep my trolling motor battery hooked to a "Battery Tender" made by Deltran. I use to use it on my Goldwing motorcycle to keep the battery in peak shape. The only time it isn't hooked up is when I'm using it on the boat. Best price I've seen it at is "Wing Stuff". I don't remember the web address. It is only 1.5 amps with a 4 stage charge.

I'm not connected in any way with the product or the supplier mentioned, just a happy customer that is glad someone told me about it. As a side note, because it is only 1.5 amps, it isn't for fast charging. I have another generic charger for that.

I keep the boat tilted up so no water will stand in boat, I also keep it covered. I put new grease in lower unit. cranked motor with kill switch off until no water came out sight hole. and I removed transom saver so motor is in full upright position. I put sta-bil in fuel tank and have it half way full. Is there something else I need to do before 20 something degree next week???? Thanks for help

Just make sure the batteries have enough fluid in them. Mine stay on the onboard charger 100% of the time when in the garage. It does not over charge it steps down to maint mode and keeps it just at 100%. That is until the batter gets old enough to need replacement. Gets mighty cold in there during the winter but never had an issue.

Drop motor and drain excess water out of motor by moving it up and down a few times.

You could always just wrap a electric blanket around the lower unit if you get scared it will get to cold for it. lol

Didn't ready everythang, but one additional thing you should do is drain and replace the lower unit oil in your foot if there's any question whatsoever about having water intrusion. Oil doesn't freeze, but water does and it'll bust your seals if it gets cold enough. Next time you put her in gear, CRUNCH. In addition, it's just a dang good idea to change your LU oil at least once a year anyhow.

In addition, if you have any water in there, you'll need service at a minimum for seals. Better to know now and miss some fishing in 30 degree weather and wind rather than find out next spring when the fish are lining up to get in our boat at 65 degrees with light and variable winds.

Just went back and read that you're a "new" boat owner. If this is a used boat and not brand new, I'll call you ignernt if you don't replace the water impeller and drain and replace the lu oil. Relatively cheap insurance and even if the guy you bought from said he "just did it", nothing like knowing for sure. Just ask Pstone what happens when ya don't.

OK, re-re-read it again and I see you changed the LU. Check. Now what about the impeller?
