There is limited cover in the water right now so the fish are trying to spawn on anything they can find, and there is a boat sitting there waiting on them. Its terrible
Same thing at Enid two,but what can we do?

I'm glad you explained your view in a little more detail Croppy1. I agree with you in the sense that 20 fish would be plenty. That's what our limit is here in western Arkansas.

I love to keep as many fish as I can catch but 20 is plenty. As long as a person does not exceed the daily limit I don't see any problem with them using the method that they enjoy the most.

I use just about every method I've ever heard of to catch crappie. I really enjoy the feeling of a nice slab on a graphite jig pole but I don't have any problem with my Father-in-Law spiderrigging with 6 poles out of his boat either.

It's too late for this year, but contact your local representative and mention the reduced limits. I doubt we can jump down for 30 to 10, but we might can hit 20 or 25, and lower it again later. Fifteen would be a good limit for us. That's enough for a good family fish fry.

When folks quit griping about how other people fish, you won't hear it anymore! Go ahead and puke, thats how I feel about the gripers too.
Heard a report from Sardis today, a couple of guys brought out 500 or
so over the last week, big females full of eggs.
And they are LOCALS - and fishing ONE POLE each, casting and reeling jigs...
So do you wanna gripe about how people fish, or how they ACT?
I am a die-hard troller, not ashamed of it. I personally would like to see the
limit down to 15 a day. I would even support catch and release only during
the spawn - or an even lower temporary limit. How many of the brush-top
sitting single pole jigging gripers would go along with that? Not many I figure - they seem to think it's their right to catch all they can catch at
the worst possible time of the year (for the fish) just because they are
    fishing "right" - idiots.

I agree, the limits should be lower!! I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I have plenty of fish in the freezer. That being said, I will be releasing the rest of the fish I catch this year, unless I am fishing with someone that needs some fish.......or unless it's a monster! I know releasing them won't help if I'm the only one that does it, but it couldn't hurt.
I got no problem with trolling, but do believe that it could hurt a lake if enough people are good at it.

How much fish(crappie) can a family of two have in the freezer? We eat fish once a week( one pound) so for a hole year we would need 52 pound's right?I have been fishing hard this year and dont have but 20 pound's( I think) for us .I like to jig fish the tops and I like to troll. but it's gotton so bad having to darn nere fight for a brush top I'm going to stop jig fishing and start just trolling.

In your case GWDJR, I would not even think of trowing legal fish back. If you can use them, I see no problem with keeping them, but some of these guys are taking way more than they can use. Thats all we are saying.

    Default possession limit

I've read all of this about too many people - too many fish being caught. My question is --- does Mississippi have a possession limit? What I mean is - how many fillets can you legally have in your freezer at one time? One post stated that he had 20 lbs. in his freezer. In my experience, a 2 lb. fish will yield two 4-6 oz. fillets. If he has 20 lbs. in his freezer - then he would be illegal in MO. MO has a limit of 60 fish per licensed fisherman limit as far as possession. Just wondering . . . .

Mississippi does NOT have a possession limit.
They just instituted a transport limit of 7 daily limits per licensed fisherman, but NO possession limit.
I have more than 20 pounds in my freezer, and it's perfectly legal.
