That's just it we don't want that we want as many crappie fishermen and women as possible. Its just like taking a kid hunting or fishing if you take them and they don't catch/shoot anything they won't go back if you can go catch 100 nice crappie and only keep 10 your still gonna go it's fun if you go and don't catch any then your gonna find something else to do. And that's my stimulus plan!!!
If the fish aren't bitting just remember your not at work ! :D
Ain't a one of you hoohawers can expect a Christmas card from me this year. Pffft.
Wannabe...
Wannabe...v2.0
A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
I put my thought's on another thread (Rule CHANGE) and don't feel like hunting and pecking agin so go read them there. So go ahead and bash me I can take it cause this is all in fun, fishing anyday and anyway is a good day.
what is wrong with a slot limit so to speak, like keep 20 per boat or even per person, but only 5 (or 7 ? tournament situation) over 14". The best eating fish are below the 12" limit anyway, in my opinion. That way the trophy fishery can still be kept somewhat intact and the people that want to fill their freezer can be accomodated as well.
I have been fishing Sardis for 20+ years, I am amazed at the quality of fish. I caught my first scale weighed 3 pounder last weekend. Was pretty cool, had my 6 year old little girl with me. 12" length limit, 20 creel, and lake levels has super charged Sardis for sure. The 12" length limit took effect in August 2007, plus the lake was low due to drought that year. We are catching the 2007-2008 class of fish we threw back. The weed growth provided cover and nutrients for bait fish and crappie to thrive and grow. The high water next couple years then covered the weeds which created a perfect growing scenario. Kinda like the perfect storm for growing big crappie.
I hope we see similar scenario next couple of years, low then high water, great spawns following drought. Seems mother nature has a way of taking control of our lakes. I just don't think you can catchem all out, I thought Grenada was getting hurt during low water years but continues to pump out quantity and quality fish.
I gotta give MDWFP an A+ for setting these regs, it has turned Sardis into trophy crappie lake.

Sardis Lake Water Level
We've now seen about three months of 10:1 ratio of throwbacks to keepers at Sardis. It appears to me that the abnormally high pressure on the lake in late Winter and early Spring really hurt the quality of the fish. Agree or disagree? When do you think the lake will be productive again?
