Aw ight, I gots a couple of questions. Pulled cranks this weekend and had a good time and learned alot. We didn't catch alot of fish but that alos gave me an opportunity to see what we are looking for when trying to locate, so it was a possitive to say the least, thanks crappieater really enjoyed Fri and Sat.
Here we go, I have a few spinning reels I can put on trolling poles and I know there were concerns about using then due to free spooning when letting the crank out. Cant I just flip the reverse switch and let the crank pull the line out?

Next question, looked at the bandit site and saw a few (300 Series) cranks on there. There were a bunch that had model numbers but didn't say 200 or 300 series. Are the model numbers starting with 2 200 series and the ones with 3 300 series?

I have read about 15 pages so far and am gonna keep reading but when WB jump in the thread I developed a headache and had to take a break.

I guess you could leave the bail open to let line out but it would be difficult to know how much line you have out. Line counter reels take the guess work out of it. The Bandits I buy are Series 200 and Series 300 only.

Maj, dont you think a 300 would pull line out if I put the reel in reverse and not open the bail. Also, I have put on line stops at 45,55,65,and 75 feet so I got a place to start with amount of line out.

I don't know if the 300 would pull the line out or not as I have no experience that. Throw one in the water and see. Your line stops should keep you close.

They pulled out but it was slow so I just opened the bail and watched my line stops, worked fine.
