Go with two in parallel for extended time. What size boat do you have?
Sweeeeeeeeeeet...................... This thread is awesome. Yesterday was the first time my uncle and I tried pulling cranks and we did pretty good considering we just started out by buying a handful of bandits at basspro. Got a 14"er. Anyways, we only pulled for about 3 hours or so but was curious about something. I have the minkota terrova 12volt with i-pilot which worked great but how long will a good fully charged battery last me pulling at say 4.5-5 power???? Second question is would it be better to rig up 2 batteries in parallel to have twice the time or would it just be best to put another battery in the boat and when 1 battery gets low just switch it over???

Thanks Big Blue. New to this crank pulling. Been long lineing jigs for a while. Very interested in pulling cranks. If anyone is considering getting the Terrrova Ipiolt get it. I got mine in Feb and love it. Could not imagine trolling with out it. It does everything it claims.
Wow, long thread, just read all the way through. Anyway I have been pulling about 10 years now. However I want to start pushing while pulling. What rods is everyone using for pushing? I am typically plus or minus 2 mph, and figure 4-8 oz should be good. I plan on using a three way, that way I can snap on different weights and lure setbacks.
PS not much talk of using a kicker motor, for me it has been the way to go.
My head hurts from all this reading.I just bought a 70lb tm handheld, if i have help do yall think it will work?I thought maybe i could get it going straight, lock it down and it would be fine.

Finally getting around to some serious cranking. 6 Oko's 15dx, 40+ cranks in assorted colors, several thousand yards of hiviz 8 & 10 lbs mono, and extra mounting plates to move the HiTek rod holders back to the console for power pulling. IT'S ON!!!! Been several days in the upper 90's over here and the water temps in upper 80's. Time to put the Navionics chip to work and find some schools of shad and hungry crappie. Thanks again for all the tips. Hope I can add something useful soon. Bad boat traffic weekend over here this weekend, but may have troll through them and hope a skier don't get snagged!
