First thing that poped into my head is lake of the woods. Flag island resort I never been there. A google search of "angle inlet resorts lake of the woods" will produce some results. Oak island is a DIY spot i think you might have to know someone to rent a cabin. Knew of a friend of a friend who's inlaws had a cabin their, they had return customers year after year. I think to travel by land to this part of MN you will need a passport or the advanced driver lic and use the remote Canada border crossing site. This would be fishing the MN side of the border but traveling through Canada to get back to MN. I am not sure about flying in but im sure that could be done.
