A friend and I planned to fish this morning but woke to thunder and lightning and rain. After hashing it over we decided that as long as we were fishing from shore, what the heck and went in spite of the rain. By the time we hit the lake the rough stuff was past and rain was the only issue but rain gear kept it at bay. On each of our first casts a crappie was caught and that pretty much eliminated any headaches the rain had with it. And things just got better.

All in all we landed in the neighborhood of 80 crappies, a pair of really nice sunfish and three smallies. Not bad for 3 1/2 hours of dodging raindrops. Not one of the crappies would be considered too small to keep with literally all of them between 11 and 12 inches. Nothing longer, nothing shorter. One of the sunfish was pushing 11 inches. The largest of the smallies fell in line at 16 inches with its two brothers slightly smaller.

Here's a nice picture of an average of today's fish.
