I am looking to build a bunch of minnow traps out of wood. The only problem is wood likes to warp. But ive heard wood ones outdo the steel wire and mesh everytime. Does anyone know what kind of wood is best to use to stay away from warping or rotting away. Im looking for a long time use? Any Thoughts would be appreciated.
If you are talking about building box type minnow traps..........And you want long term life, I would use cypress strips. Only thing is they are going to be expensive traps..........
Might want to consider making the frame work out of say 1/2 pvc pipe........just drill holes in the pipes so no air is trapped.
Really nice traps have a tendancy to grow legs and walk off..................
