    Default Bring it on....

The weather for tomorrow sounds like rain, wind and perhaps some snow while looking at temps in the 30"s for the morning. Perfect for dock hopping. I have every intention of being there bright and early. The deep part of a major low pressure is due to descend on us here in SE Minnesota dropping temps and delivering ugly weather and I think that morning fishing will land on the low side before it starts to crawl into the trailing hi pressure so fishing should be just shy of outstanding. How do they say...."its a perfect storm".

It was dry and windy this morning. All the fluff about rain and snow was exactly that. They predicted it to be windy and they nailed that right on the nose. But the fish didn't know the wind was blowing.

The fish played hard to find until about two hours into the fishing and then we found them very deep and tight to the bottom. They also have a very specific color preference today. If you didn't have a bait in the jig that was a purple body with a green chartreuse tail, you simply did not catch fish. Other body colors with that color of tail were tried but to no avail. Purple/chartreuse. Period.

Soft hitters in that deep water too. Subtle jigging with short pauses and you'd just be aware of the extra weight when you went to lift the line for another jig.

Multi species bag today. Crappies to about 14", nice perch, some sunfish and walleyes rounded out the dinner menu for tonight.

Windy. Cool. But the fish were hitting. Great day.

Friday we fished again and did as well if not better than Tuesday's outing. Another friend fished the same docks on Saturday and couldn't catch a fish. Weather fronts are in the yo-yo pattern now and it seems that every other day another cold front comes hiking thru the area. Today would not have been the day to go as the winds are running at about 30 mph sustained. Gusts have taken down some of our wind chimes and a bird house today, all of which have been holding their own for several years. Man, its still howling out there. Out of the east. Weather will be here tomorrow.

Took Friday afternoon off to hit the lake one more time before my buddy retired his boat for the winter. We spent a good amount of time looking from shallow to deep, but didn't find them or the sonar, or at the end our our line. I though the wind would have helped our bluebird skies during the day until the light dropped a bit, but to no avail.
