It was dry and windy this morning. All the fluff about rain and snow was exactly that. They predicted it to be windy and they nailed that right on the nose. But the fish didn't know the wind was blowing.
The fish played hard to find until about two hours into the fishing and then we found them very deep and tight to the bottom. They also have a very specific color preference today. If you didn't have a bait in the jig that was a purple body with a green chartreuse tail, you simply did not catch fish. Other body colors with that color of tail were tried but to no avail. Purple/chartreuse. Period.
Soft hitters in that deep water too. Subtle jigging with short pauses and you'd just be aware of the extra weight when you went to lift the line for another jig.
Multi species bag today. Crappies to about 14", nice perch, some sunfish and walleyes rounded out the dinner menu for tonight.
Windy. Cool. But the fish were hitting. Great day.
