And lysol kills 99+% of all germs....and i have never been skunked....politicians never lie.... And i absolutely believe everything a company says about their products... No1son warned before: Black flies up there are like nothing you have ever encountered. I would not trust my comfort, and health, to unknown products. I can guarantee that if you sit in the middle of a fire you will have no problem with the black flies or mosquitoes. That is the only think, other than do not go outside that is an absolute guarantee.... Or, you could try ice fishing up there.

    LOL.

Normally I don't use anything, because so many of those products make me sicker than the bug bites do, and I worry more about the deer flies than either black flies or mosquitoes anyway. It is ticks that worry me most.

The best is to fish in the open and in the breeze if possible. None of those insects are strong fliers. FWIW that will also decrease the effectiveness of Thermocell, not that I have ever even used it, just went by what was published and others experience with it on mosquitoes. I do know some folks who swear by it at least for mosquitoes and gnats. Normally I just take the biting insects as a part of fishing, although I have been chased off the water by them a number of times.

You will also find that particular insects are more common in particular parts of a lake, deer flies especially. They will sneak up on you from the backside especially if you are sitting down or not moving as one would be in a fishing boat; so if I see any around I get very careful and tend to move out and fish elsewhere. The others are opportunists but deer flies hunt.
