Hi Chris,

One of the things I intend to do in my lifetime is get to MInn to fish. Here I normally crappie fish. I have never caught a walleye or muskie. Caught quite a few pike small ones though 20 inches maybe 24 inches some of them. Got a nice hybrid striper on the wall that weighed 23 pounds.

My wife and I both fish some day I plan to get to Minn. I have looked at Lake of the Woods web sites any other suggestions? I would probably hire a guide the first day to get to know the lake. Let me know if you have any ideas and good fishing to you.

Steve, what time of year would you be comeing to Minnesota...?

There are some nice slabs to be found in other parts of the state as well, and walleyes in the mix with them, I fished a small local tournament this past weekend, We coulght plenty of fish like this...

And also picked up a few Northern Pike, Large Mouth Bass, Walleye, Perch, and Blue Gills in the mix as well.

I've been getting them in 12-15 foot of water on small jigs tiped with some cented soft plastics. The Maki and the Buggi are working great, and a jig and spin tiped with the WiskeredLoby or the Wormi trolled real slow along the deep weeds have been best, it's not uncommon for all three of us in the boat to be hooked up at the same time, with doubles as common as the leaves on the trees. From the looks of the other boats on the lakes I've been fishing, I'd have to say that I'm doing something right, I have yet to see any of the other boats with three rods bent at the same time

Great to hear the baits are working for ya! We have had a wild week here also...smallies and walleyes in the Big Roche a cri creek on the gliders and tube jigs........doing an overnighter tomorrow , fishing a 13 mile stretch over two days!...Your new boat looks nice also, you did a definite upgrade there my friend! :D LOBY

Yep:p You missed it! We'll hit it when you get up here for the NAIFC. I've marked close to 100 waypoints on my 332C and I'm starting to look at the deeper water close by for this winter, the summer stuff should show a pattern to where the fish will move to come ice up, there has been 3-4 out of 10 specific areas that the fish seem to be holding more concistantly for the past two years that are quite small, areas that are less than 50 yards long, but the deep water flats where these fish will be in the winter is very vast, 1/2 to 3/4 mile streches. thats alot of drill'n

but I know the fish are there, and I'm letting alot of them go, I've been keeping 10 or so 8-10 inch fish to eat, and tossing back everything bigger than that. I'm going to start takeing some scale samples and get some info on the age class of these fish, the lake is to small to give up the name, I saw this lake take a hard hit about 5 years ago, and people were takeing bucket's of fish off this lake every night, and I will have no part in the decline of this fishery by passing the word. I've seen alot of 12" and 13" fish this summer, and a couple of true 14"ers as well. I wish the DNR would step in and protect this lake with a more restricted slot so it don't turn into many of the 6"-8" fish lakes close by.
