Yes, I can watch jigs on my sonar and if I'm using a tandom rig it makes it much easier to watch.

Yea, it's always better when backtrolling because of the line angle. I like to use the troller to go into the wind and let the wind blow me back. I can't say that I loose any feel with a two piece rod but then I've never tried a one piece so I don't really know but I doubt it. I use 8 1/2' st.croix rods. I think the further your bait is away from the troller or boat the better off you are but as I said, I think 10' rods and longer are designed more for spider rigging or dipping into shallow water.

I wondered what those marks were on my sonar. Now I know that it is my jig and not fish! I try and keep my trolling motor on the 200 to get the narrow beam to better pinpoint my structure. I have noticed that when I use the wide beam I get a jig track sometimes. I have rods that are either 6'6" or 12' and nothing in between. That is a large difference. The 12' have no feel and you can really only tip or line watch with them. The 6'6" are a little short sometimes. Santa did not bring me an 8' rod so I am on my own.
