Default Are you a fanatic about noise like I am?

A while back I went fishing with someone who made some noises in the boat and I asked them to quiet it down some. They thought I was nuts and said that the crappie cant hear you. I happen to disagree and think highly toward the contrary. I have also seen some shows where they say that the crappie can hear very well and will spook over small things that alot of crappie anglers may not even be aware of such as huge splashes with the bait presentation more than need be, or throwing a 9.5 inch fish real hard in your fishing area and it making a big noise.Banging rods on boat, or live well doors shutting hard, etc.I would go even so far as to say even loud talking and or laughing out loud.Am I taking this way too far in your opinion, or do you feel this way as well.I think personally its alot like deer hunting.Sometimes there are exceptions, but you will only catch the smaller fish if you do anything that may give you away to the bigger ones who are a little smarter from experiencing boats around who make these small mistakes. You also cant argue with success rates.Have you ever noticed that on windy days your catch is better at times? Maybe with all the water movement the fish cant detect you as well.Could this be? Whats your opinion.Would love to increase my catch rates and hear what you have to say.

i believe that the niose made in the boat, such as,dropping things, livewell door closed hard, just any kind of bings and bangs can scare fish.i think the sound waves carry thur the water off of the boat.i don't think talking and laughing spook the fish.i was fishing the other day,and was reeling in to check my bait(got to check your bait folks)i was using a 1/2 oz. sinker it hit the side of the boat(not hard)and it still sounded like a 22cal.went off in the boat.i'm sure it sent sound waves out from the boat.so,yes i believe some sounds can affect the fish.i think the release of smaller fish, if done gently, will not spook fish.the fish splashing is a natural sound for them.this is my opinion, nothing here scienitific.

Fish Get So Use To Noise I Don't Think It's A Big Factor. Sometimes A Splash Starts Fish Moving Even Shaking The Bush Will Get Fish To Move Where Otherwise Are Kinda Just Sitting There Not Being Aggressive

I think that the fish do "hear the noise" or vibrations and it can be proven. I just watch my pet crappie in my pond when they hear me walk out the door on my back porch. They hear me coming and are up at the top waiting to be fed. They do not spook when I yell at them or anything like that they just want to be fed. It seems that those nice wild fish would be doing the same thing. They hear the boat motor and go to see what is for dinner. That has got to be the way that it is or how else would you catch them? I just think that you are bringing us this noise issue because you want some peace and quite while you fish.:D

I'm not a fanatic about it but I do think that the more quite you can be, the better your chances of puttin em in the well. I also think to a degree that they become accustom to some noises like trolling motors. And it probably varies from lake to lake. Bottom line is to keep as quite as one can.

I think the ping of the depth finders on the trolling motor may be a disadvantage also Amd I have been fishing a tree before and somebody get hung in it and pull the line loose and the fish just quit bitting. So now I stay back as far as possible and turn off electronics when fishing shallow cover which probably dont make any difference since Im fishing out of an aluminum boat.

I would say prop wash from the trolling motor probably needs to be added to the list of things to be aware of as well.

I don't guess playing a Allen Jackson CD on my boom box is a good idea?
