Headed for Detroit looking to continue a spring tradition of fishing the river for walleye during the spawning run. We got in line to launch around 630a as the sun was rising. The launch we used this time is just upstream of the new Gordie Howe international bridge with Canada. It has come a long way since last year. Looked liked only a few more sections and the two decks will connect.

After finally launching and getting on the river we vertical jigged 1oz jigs with plastic tails tipped with minnows. Most fish were caught in 30-40 ft of water. We were able to fill our limit in 4 hours. Nice mixture of sizes were caught with a few large fish landed. Nice to be able to put a variety of fish in the freezer as I Enjoy all the different species available in our waters in Michigan. Hopefully we will get a few more opportunities with the walleye before the focus on crappie.
