FISH for LIFE
HUMANKIND......be both
Even though the weather has been nice we still have ice on some of the lakes. Enough to keep us from putting the boat in but not enough to walk on. I got the boat out of storage this past weekend and prepped it for the year so as soon as Mother Nature cooperates I'm ready to go.. I checked my early crappie spot, a canal that they come into this time of year, and it was still 90% ice covered. We're about a month away from the Detroit River walleye fishing and 2 months from spring camp. How you doing down that way?
Don't know about the rest but been busy with grandkids and a upcoming vacation... Hopefully get a little salt water trip report soon. Weather here been weird with temps roller coasting and is windy pretty regular. Thunderstorm chances next couple nights with snow on Wednesday...lol.. Hopefully things will moderate and will be able to get at it soon.

Buckeye, I am not going to make this one. Wish I could. I have been trying every other year, but I don't know what the future holds. I no longer have a camper and don't really plan on another. But go if you can. It won't be a large group, but it will be a quality group. Great guys. Jerry/Jeff glad things are okay. Won't be long you guys will be in shorts and drifting around pulling in slabs. Man I got to make one of those walleye runs someday. I put a report in the Louisiana thread. Not worth repeating here, but except for my shoulder had a good visit with my brother. Y'all take care and keep us posted.
Hopefully I'll have my boat out within the next couple of weeks chasing crappie.
Two weekends ago I was spearing pike off Drummond Island. Last weekend I ran down to Lk St Clair to partake in the perch runs in the canals.
Looking forward to getting after the crappie and attending crappie camp for the first time.

We purchased a different camper but a pull behind, but plan on making the spring camp. Possably if Gary or someone has a empty seat I can tag along and fish? I have truck camper still, but its going to be up for sale, I may bring a kayak and cruise the shore if not.
Any way, as soon as I can the boat and fishing will be top of the list, hoping to see another camp soon.
Hey Tim, I'm not sure if Gary is coming or not. I got a PM from him back in December about spring camp but haven't heard a peep since. As for as I know it's just me and Jeff, John and Wanda and Dean (birdbander) and his buddy. We might have room if my neighbor doesn't come.
I got out on Pine lake in the Delton area on Monday. The cabbage covered flat I was hoping to find the crappie on was devoid of cabbage. We tried everything from shallow shorelines to 20' holes with one small bass for our efforts. Friday I hit a canal from shore and managed to land 6 and lost 2 in the brush. One of the ones I lost broke my line and I watched him swim away with my float in tow. The fish were down the canal just at my max casting distance so once it started raining and the wind picked up I couldn't reach them. Taking the flat bottom down Monday to even things out a little. Who knows, I might even get my bobber back.
The older I get the more I realize the therapeutic benefits of fishing

It's a toss up if my friend will join. If he doesn't come along I'll have room for one person with the understanding that they're willingly boarding a boat captained by someone who has never fished any of the lakes nearby and isn't a very good fisherman on a good day
