Default What???!!! 9 species. What a day!

Flipped a coin this morning-heads go to work, tails go fishing. It came up tails so I picked up vbottom and we headed down to Duck Lake, formerly known as no-luck-Duck. While the crappie fishing was, well, crappy we kept busy catching everything else the lake had to offer. In addition to the 4 crappie we also caught LM bass, SM bass, rock bass, pike, perch, red ear sunfish, bluegill and warmouth. We were trolling jigs and plastics with Sliders in blue/chartreuse being the color they wanted. Nothing else would work with any consistency. Most of the fish were released but I did keep an 8 fish mixed bag for dinner later this week. We were entertained by a pair of eagles, one adult and one juvenile, diving for fish in the shallows. Pretty cool to see. Sorry, no pictures today. My photographer was busy controlling the boat.

That is my favorite kind of trip. The very first time I used a tube jig, dipping on an old fly rod, I caught 33 fish of 8 varieties. I was hooked. Did not have the jig poles back then. Probably 35 plus years ago and tube jigs had just made an appearance in south Louisiana.
