    Hi,

Wanting to come to Michigan in the next couple of weeks to cast for crappie..... first time in the state fishing.
I would appreciate any input on a lake/lakes to fish and even safe places to stay , charge the boat and recharge.

Thanks in advance for your help

Do you have an area of interest?

    Upper Peninsula, Lower Peninsula?
If Upper are you interested in western, central or eastern? Lower could be NE, NE, SE or SW.

Is camping an option or strictly lodging?

Do you have an area of the state in mind? Hotels or camping? Most of our lakes have decent populations of crappie and they're usually willing to bite. Are you looking for size or just a tug on the line? Coldwater has two chains of lakes, one south east of town and one north west. Both have crappie and Coldwater is a safe area. South east of Charlotte are Duck, Narrow and Prairie. All can be good and Charlotte is another safe area. Lots of lakes around Hastings- Middle, Leach, Thornapple, Carter, Bassett, Crooked, Pine are a few and all can be good. Further north are Cadillac, Mitchell, Missaukee and Houghton. I've caught crappie in all of those. Tons of lakes in the Pinkney area with good reputations but I've never ventured down that way. Hope this helps. FYI, I'm just west of Lansing and if you're near there we could meet up and we'll show you some spots.

    Thank you

Stony Creek Lake gives up quite a few master angler sized crappie, 14" and over. It's in the Lake Orion area.I know nothing about the lakes in the SE corner, I tend to stay as far away from that area as I can.Way too busy for this country boy! We fish Branch, Calhoun, Ingham, Barry, Ionia and Montcalm counties and can give you info on some of the lakes in those counties.
