I got a PM from birdbander earlier this week: do you want to meet up Saturday and fish my home lake? Heck yeah! I picked up vbottom at 5am, hooked up his Lund and headed north. When we got to the lake it was dead calm and the lake was covered with floating weeds and cottonwood. Trolling jigs was a bit of a challenge but we managed to put a few good fish in the box. We found a tight inside bend with good weeds and lots of crappie so we anchored up and tossed jigs. The bite was good and we were getting bit nearly every cast, lots of smalls but also some good ones mixed in. When we wore that spot out we tried two more that were similar and caught crappie on them as well. When we quit at 1:00 we had 39 that got to go home with birdbander. It was a great day on the water and was a pleasure meeting Dean and having him give us the scoop on his home waters.
