Some days are that way. Surely beats a day spent at work
Made a run to very popular Ionia Co lake this morning for the first time this year. Many of you likely know it. It's a quantity not quality lake but gives up limits on the small side of keeper. Trolled #4 and #5 Flicker Shad in Chrome Clown, Purple Tiger and one that has RT (don't recall what it stands for). Plenty of action from 5:30am until I left at 9am, just never caught one that would have been worth cleaning.
Still fun. Did land a 28" northern that was skinny as a nail, I'd guess it was a male. First northern I've ever seen there.
Hopefully the bite will be on at lakes close to home that give quality. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the report. Haven't been on there yet this year but now that the holiday is over the pleasure boating will slow. Still a fun fish close to home.

There was only a small portion of the lake that had too much floating vegetation stirred up by pleasure boats making trolling unproductive.
Hope it clears up, I have a family fish fry coming up in 3 weeks and still need 15-20 pounds of fillets. Plan on a couple of meat runs to that lake to finish up. Sounds like it would be good to thin them out a little.
The older I get the more I realize the therapeutic benefits of fishing
