I was hoping to be able to find some crappie today as my wife finally was able to join me. Started off probing the deep side of the weed edges using minnows under slip bobbers. No luck.

Over the winter I watched some videos using telescopic poles and had some places in mind. When we couldn't find them deep I checked the shallow water bullrushes and there they were! I had a 20' BnM rod, my wife was using a 16' Shakespeare. Tried jigs tipped with minnows but only had lookers. Ditched the jigs and just used minnows on wire hooks. BINGO!

It took some work getting each one to bite, but we plugged away at it and were rewarded with a good batch between 8.5" and 12.25". Great day!
