Me and Jeff took a little drive today with finding safe ice being our primary goal. We headed north on M-66 and the Martiny chain was our first stop. People had been out but the 2 1/2" of ice at the launch convinced us to look elsewhere. We checked some smaller lakes and found decent ice but decided to try Chippewa Lake near Barryton, we found 5" of solid ice and quads running all over the lake. Our "spot" is accessed from private property far from the public access crowds and is a short walk. Finding good ice is the best part of this report. We did catch some fish but the sunfish that ate our spikes were too small to keep. We landed one keeper sized pike that came home with us and will be my Friday dinner. With the cold weather we have coming next week we should be fishing closer to home shortly. Name: IMG_20210106_135804459 (1).jpg
