I had heard the Marathon had closed, guess you can't believe everything you read on the internet. Glad they didn't. They are our go to place for gas, bait and snacks when we're up that way.
Rich, that's a fantastic idea. Bait doesn't freeze and is insulated from the extremes of temperature changes.

Many moons ago, I knew a place that gave out 6 pack coolers for free. I had about 10 of them. Mainly because a six pack was a joke! Free was free though and a good many of those held minnows.
This is a little late but, hey, I've been busy. I took off for Atlanta on Wednesday about 3 pm. The first hour was nasty with snow and wind but at least the roads weren't icy. After that it was smooth sailing and I got here about 3:30 am Thursday. Isla woke me up at 5:30 but she's battling a cold so wants little to do with me.
Thursday I laid down a game plan for installing a new tankless water heater. There was only one good place to exit the building with the PVC vent pipe and luckily there was nothing in the way. A trip to Home Depot for supplies and I got right to work. I had to cut through a double 2x10 rim joist and a brick exterior, which I decided to tackle Friday. I got the unit mounted in the mechanical room in the basement and started fitting 3" pvc together.
Today I got the hole cut through the rim joist, cut through the brick and got the pvc vent pipe and fresh air intake ran and the termination kit mounted. Next, I got the 3/4" gas line ran, but not hooked to the main line yet. Also the pex water lines ran but not hooked to the main lines and the condensation drain line hooked up.
Tomorrow I plan on tapping into the water lines and installing shark bite 3/4" T's, running a new 12/2 wire for an outlet near the water heater and changing a 3/4-3/4-1/2 black pipe T to a 3/4-3/4-3/4 T and hooking up the gas. Also have to cap off the water lines going to the existing heater and capping the exhaust port. With any luck, we'll be using the new heater for evening showers.
Temps down here are in the low 60's and upper 50's, perfect temp for this norther boy. I don't like real hot weather. I whipped up a bit kettle of beef stew and home made biscuit for dinner and we're waiting on my SIL to get home from work to eat. Hard to get used to 7:30 as supper time, at home that's almost bed time.
Probably head home early Tuesday morning, weather permitting.

Glad you made it there safely Jerry.
We are headed south on Monday. I read the expected temps will be in the mid 80's.

Isla is warming up to me again. We sat out on the front porch for about an hour this morning while mom and dad slept in. She has learned one word, dog, and says it non stop. Dog, dog, dog. The girl loves dogs. We also played fetch with some plastic balls. She would throw the ball and I would fetch it. Too much fun!
Great fun

You know when you're tired of the winter season when you get a day or two it doesn't snow or rain ice.
Hope the weather plays nice on Tuesday for my drive home. Gonna be raining down here starting tomorrow.
Water heater up and running and Isla loves her grampy again. We had us a time this afternoon. Grilled a variety of sausages and made tater salad for dinner.

Sure is fun watching them grow. I remember when my first niece was born. I took her every chance I could. I wasn't home much due to active duty, but she was my shadow when I was home.
She graduates college in May. Time flies. In some regards, I wish my daughter would stay young forever. On the flip side, I enjoy watching her become the person she is, and look forward to who she will become.
I should save that as one of my all time quotes!
