I thought that after changing 14 gallons of fluid in my tractor on Saturday that my mechanic duties were over for awhile.
But, heading home a check engine light comes on in my truck. A quick check is low oil pressure sensor. My disdain for sensors as the part they sensor never fails, just the sensor itself.
Background: Chevy has a history of issues with these. The issue is the little known screen under the sensor. Indicator is low oil pressure on the gauge or pegged pressure.
What you need: a special 1 1/16 deep well sensor socket, a universal, 6 inch extension, a contortionist body, tiny hands, the ability to work on something you can't see, and patients.
It is located as far away from the oil as possible. If you look under the firewall directly below the passenger whiper connection, behind the engine cowl, you won't see it! Perfect place for it though. I mean why wouldn't you put it there so you can charge 3 hours of labor on a design flaw?
Be prepared to guess how the electric connection comes off. You will get it. Oh, and have a pick to find the screen that might as well be located 7 inches into the motor (not quit but you get the idea).
1.25 hours not knowing what I was doing and I now have pressure and a cleared computer again. Saved a couple hundred bucks too.
So, if you ever have this issue, I'm available only for moral support. Laying across the engine bay is not my idea of a good time
Rich,
Was just telling Jerry about that same issue and screen when we went to the DR.
Been there, done that, but not sure why it took you as long.
From your description yours might be in a different place than mine.
Mine is located @ the back as well, but dead center of the rear of the engine.
It’s Becky work. You know, can’t see anything, don’t want to see it,eyes closed as you can’t see anything, and some bedside verbs.
Anybody who has dated Becky knows how to......
I can change mine in about 30 to 40 minutes.
Most of that time is getting a ladder so I can crawl up and hug the motor, to get to everything.

Rich, what year and mileage is your truck. My 2013 has 60,000, just wondering how long I have.
The older I get the more I realize the therapeutic benefits of fishing

2011 and just over 100k.
The only reason it took me that long was the first time you remove the electric connection, you really don't know what you are doing. If you could see it, it is easy to figure out. There is a lot of plastic shields in the way but having the right tools is key. Oh, and I had a mouse nest to remove.
I started noticing lower oil pressure than normal before the check light. If you get more than 3 of the same code, a hard reset is required. For a hard reset, remove the positive and negative terminals from the battery before you start. After 45 minutes, hit the brakes 3 times to discharge residual power. Hook battery back up and start. This should remove the codes.
Ok guys, I am not allowed to fish alone. If you have an empty seat you can pick on me
Made an impromptu trip to Houghton lake to put the dock in for my family. Heard crappies have been in the canals. Gonna try for them.
