    Default Like watching COPS

This morning as my wife leaves for work she calls and asks if I gave anyone permission to park a U Haul on our lawn next to the cornfield? I said no, to that she replied there was one and I should check it out.
I grab my shorts to head out and find out why it’s there as she calls me back and said she was calling 911 to report it.....good call!
Within 10-15 minutes there was about 8-10 state, county and city police cars and officers in my driveway.

A canine unit was also sent. I watched from my house as I was instructed to stay inside, the events unfold like a movie from COPS.
First the bullhorn repeating if anyone was inside the U haul to come out, or they may get bit by the dog. Then, guns drawn they surround the U Haul.

No one there so they put the dog on the trail. Officers surround my cornfield as the dog tracks the guy through it to the neighbors deer blind and arrest him.

The detective came up to speak with me after all was clear.
Apparently the U haul was used in a theft and the guy or guys ditched it here and took off on foot, they caught one but he wasn’t saying if there were others, so me and Mr. Benelli are best friends today in case they missed one.

Towing company came out and hauled away the U Haul to an impoundment.

Good thing I didn’t go fishing today, Ida missed the excitement!
All this makes me appreciate the boys in blue even more than I did before (which was a lot) they do their jobs well and should be respected for their duty, which seems like lately there has been a lot of disrespect directed at them.

I thanked the Detective and asked him to let the other officers know of my appreciation.

Give that K9 Dog a treat.

    SpartanNation,

You could have taken KnuckleHead over there for some lessons........

Interesting Steve. We don't see much of that this direction. So, what does that say...better neighborhood or nobody thinks twice about a truck parked where it shouldn't be??? Dunno.

Not much of that here either Don.
I’m in the middle of farm country surrounded by fields. There’s a little crime that goes on here, this had to have been a well thought out plan by them.
From what they tell me, the local car dealer was having a big sale on tires that somehow were stolen (how?) and the U haul was the vehicle to transport the stolen goods.
What scares me is that someone had to have cased out our place to know that there was a good place concealed from the highway because of the corn to ditch the u haul. No casual driver would know that.....I’m off the highway 700 feet

That jog in the field across from my shop is where they hid it......in my opinion you wouldn’t know that unless you already had some knowledge of the lay of the land

    A little disturbing for me.

If you happen to find a pair of 265-75-16 in the field after they harvest let me know. I need some for my '95 Chevy.

Knucklehead would have taught those K-9 dogs a thing or two. That tire thief's leg would never be the same, and not because he chewed on it. Bad dog!

I could use tires too! Did they find any tires in the truck? If not, where did they go and how did they get there.

Farm country for me as well but I can shoot further than I can see. My dog would love them to death. Fortunately, my place is protected by colt, ruger, Remington, savage, benelli, barreta, marlin, mauser, thompson center, and a few others. Just depends on which room you are in. Those are the ones that don't fit in the two cabinets I have. Someone once said that I need a bigger cabinet. If that happened, I wouldn't have the quick access to them
