    Default Wilbur goes fishing.

Jeff had today off and I got done early so we hooked up my boat, grabbed Wilbur and headed over to Morrison Lake. The wind was light from the north east so drifting wouldn't work. We started long lining the east basin, pulling 1/16 oz jigs and sliders at .7-1.0. We were over 18 fow and were fishing our jigs about 10' down. Neither of us needs fish so we played catch and release.

Pretty much anywhere we went we marked fish suspended at 12'. Being we didn't want to keep fish, we tried different colors and techniques.Every color we tried caught fish but Funky Monkey and Tennessee Shad were the hottest colors. Both are similar to Case Plastics JT Jewel that was hot last Friday. Jeff tried a micro crank bait and that produced as well. We found that the fish suspended over deeper water, 24-30, tended to run bigger with many pushing 10". We had some bonus bluegills as well with the largest right at 9".

Wilbur seemed to have fun but was a little slow at setting the hook. Because he didn't whine about being bored, he even got to help drive the boat.

Here are a few pictures of our adventure. Enjoy.Name: 7670.jpeg

That is what I am talking about. Now everyone gets to dream about where they would take Wilbur if they are lucky enough to win him.

Way to protect him. Safety first!

Nice to see Wilbur got let out of the barn! I'm sure the fresh air and exercise did him a lot of good.

I bet, if any other fishermen seen a trophy in someones boat they must have thought the cheese completely had slipped off someones cracker.

Not a lot of activity on Morrison yesterday. Maybe 5 other boats were out. The bite was steady, we put 100+ in the boat. I think next time out we're going to troll small worm harnesses for gills. Nothing wrong with crappie but that 9" gill I caught felt like a whale and fought like crazy.

Wilbur was left in my truck last night so he might go to work with me today. I'll teach him how to build extension jambs and trim windows.

Thanks for the reminder. A few years ago, I was on Sugerloaf lake running harnesses above 3 foot of water and weeds to catch perch. Caught my fair share but was surprised to catch a dozen nice crappies on the same setup.

That was fun and it has been awhile. A tactic I forgot about until now.

    Wilbur needs a nail pouch.

You better be more careful next time, the goat welfare people will be knocking on your door and putting Wilbur in a foster boat.

He didn't want to go with me today so I put him in your garage by your boat. I told him to mow the grass but apparently he has an attitude against deere.

Speaking of worm harness for gills.....

I listened and since I’m going fishing tomorrow I thought I’d make this up

and give it a try. Is it what you guys are talking about?

Worth a try. I just made it up using what I had......guess it’s a prototype.
