That's a nice area. You may want to check out the village of Leland. Kind of touristy but still cool. Sleeping Bear dunes is another cool place. The mouth of the Platte River is one of my familys favorites and there is a salmon hatchery in Honor that we visit whenever we're in the area. You can rent a tube and float the Platte River from the weir to the mouth. Old Mission Point north of TC is another of our regular stops.

If you can get on Grand Traverse Bay you can catch some real nice smallmouth bass. I fished a lot of the lakes in that area and Arbutus is one of my favorites. Bluegill, crappie, bass and pike. Spider Lake is in the same area, is harder to figure out, but the fish seem to run larger. Skegmog can be good at times for yellow perch and is just east of TC. Basic spinning gear will work. I know nothing about the trout in the Boardman River.

If you're into craft beer, there are tons of micro brewerys in the area. If you're up for a road trip, Mackinac City, Mackinac Bridge and St. Ignace are worth the trip. Check out the rest stop/ bridge over look on the north end of the bridge west of I-75. They have a neat display on the planning and building of the bridge. Don't forget to eat a pasty while you're there, it's a U.P. thing.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to do. Keep us posted on how your trip is going.
