I tried a canal south of Hastings Monday. It was still mostly skimmed over with ice, no bites. Anybody going to Saginaw for the last day?
Anybody been out looking for crappie yet?

I bet you're right. All that for a walleye? Not like it's bluegills or perch.
One of my regular customers called me last night. One of her friends lost her husband recently and she is ready to sell his hunting, fishing and tool collection. I'm going over shortly to see what she has. The rest will be sold in April at some sort of garage sale. Hopefully I can give her an idea what kind of a price to put on things.

Very good Jerry. It is always nice when a grieving person can look to someone with knowledge of something to ensure they get a good price for a piece of gear they know nothing about. Too many people out there try to take advantage of the situation because they understand that the person selling something isn't knowledgable of it.
I was eating a batch of perch last night whilst thinking: Hmmmm, I'm almost out of perch which gives me an excuse to take off at the first hint of them coming to my favorite haunts. I have to stock up to ensure I can make it until the fall run which then lasts me through the winter.
As for Saginaw, I heard it was a mess yesterday. I can only imaging how busy it will be today. Which leads me on to why I look for out of the way places that nobody fishes, I stay away from the pack, and I tend to launch at less than popular areas. My fishing is done for my enjoyment. Too many people get irritated because they cannot control what other idiots do. They are upset when they are trolling without looking, having the "it's all about me" attitude, They will move before I do, or it is all about the fastest you can get to the dock. Once I'm there, screw you, I'll do what I want.
I cannot control those people, so, for my own sanity, I choose to stay away from them. In the beginning, I saw it as fishing less than desirable areas. Soon, it became appearent that I was actually doing a heck of a lot better than all of them. Amazing what you can learn when you get older! I don't need that stress in my life. I fish to avoid it!
I'll take a mess of perch over walleye any day. I like to eat walleye but I like perch, gills and pike better. Wish I had enough boat to hit the Erie fall perch run but, alas, I don't. I'll have to stick to White Lake or the smallish Morrison Lake perch.

Now that you have told me, I'll be sure to invite you when we go!!! Love having a bunch of guys in the boat perch fishing. Walleye, not so much but perch, it is fun.
FYI: we will be fishing Muskegon ASAP. I'll let you know when we go. We WILL have room for you! Steve will probably go anyway so you could always put on your hazmat suit and get in with him ORRR, feel free to get in my boat with dirty boots, spill wigglers, worm dirt, nasty minnows, cheeze it crackers, and tobacco juice on the floor. Then grind it in over the course of a day. Eventually, I take someone fishing with the payment of "Cleaning" my boat when we are done! Just hope you arn't "That guy"!

Anyone is welcome in my boat EXCEPT Lee aka Capt. Sinkie.

Saginaw:
I was at Al & Bobs talking to the store manager about Rylee's Jig order (Ill get to that more in a minute)
He was up there @ Saginaw on Sunday the day after the friendly tournament from MS Members for "Fun" (which he didn't know about)
He said it was a ZOO on Sunday, "Like the DR only more narrow" he said....DNR had people the next day at the launch, & 3 on the water.
Once the photo of a 14.35# Walleye went online, it was a ZOO.
I have never been on the Sag River, but was going to go back up this weekend to the Bay, but those plans got squashed.
SpartanNation:
That's a Seal of Approval from me. My Grand Dad dies, & I was in the Military. While & before I was home, some of my Grand Dad's friends "Purchased/Stole" some of his equipment form my Grand Ma who had no idea what it was worth.
Myself and some friends took it upon ourselves to contact a few of the more egregious and make restitution's. Grand Ma was rather happy afterwards.
Rich @ Muskegon:
Your taking Steve? Um, Steve is 1/1 on "Non Lead based Painting" on the side of my boat. I would make sure he has a United Air Line baggy, and some drop down oxygen.
So back to Rylee & his Jig order:
Last week he didn't feel well. Was rather temperamental. I changed all my last weekend plans to help him with a large Jig order for Al & Bob's.
Passed up fishing in Saginaw, & spent Sunday grinding Jigs for him. Well, he got home from work said "I do not feel well" & Went to his girl friends. He was home the next day, however while driving home proceeded to vomit in his car, and much like Steve with my boat, had it all over the outside as well. Made it to the house, had stuff coming out both ends. Hot Shower, and no food he felt, OK. Went to work Tuesday & promptly left, and went to ER for most of the night. Has been in and out of ER the rest of the week, and is currently at Dr getting a scan on his Gall Bladder, which may need to be removed.
Day in the life of OE.
