I just finished watching that episode.

I had to crack up laughing about how well the Mud Chickens fight when jigging.

Never once did anyone have to move, or get into any type of (oh crap) stance, no poles went sideways, and never heard any drag taking off for Green Bay.......... lol

However that area is beautiful, and would be worth the trip.

Remember those public service announcements when were kids.

It’s 11:00pm, do you know where your kids are?????

I had to laugh, I thought to myself......

It’s 11:15pm on a Friday night Holiday weekend.

Knucklehead laying at the door thinking....... I hope he’s not out with Becky............

Yup, I woke up one of my kids from laughing........

Nope, not with Becky. I spent the night watching the Spartans football game and babysitting Isla Jean. Good to know I still have the touch but, man, did it wear me out.

I had to go to Coldwater today (work related) and since I was there I thought I'd check out the "new" Gander Outdoors/Camping World .......

Nothings changed from when it was Gander Mountain.....limited selection and about a dollar per lure higher than you can buy elsewhere.
They did have a decent selection of Musky baits if you're a Musky guy.

    So not impressed.

Originally we were going to have "Senior Citizen Saturday" however the weather did not cooperate. Instead we headed to a local checken joint and got some hot wings.

It was however renamed "Senior Citizen Sunday" and I was able to get my dad and Brian in the boat for some crappie fishing. I would be a fool to think that I could go out and fish and enjoy 99% of the lakes on a holiday weekend however, I do have one little gem that I save for just such an occasion.

Mill lake located close to Cassidy Lake and the Cassidy Prison and not too far from the town of Chelsea is an electric motor only lake. There isn't much of a boat launch there and zero dockage but we can get Brian's boat (my old one) in the water with little issues.

The wind was a bit strong in the early evening but we were able to find several large schools of blue gills. Unfortunately, this lake doesn't have much size to gills. They were hungry after the storms and were destroying minnows. Thankfully, Tab's bait and tackles version of 2 dozen minnows is more like 6 dozen. Brian and my dad battle back and forth calling names to the tiny little gills as they took minnow after minnow and tail after tail of soft plastics.

I however didn't have that problem! Over the last couple of years, I've been doing some testing on a specific way to fish. For whatever reason (that I have not come up with yet), I just cannot get this method to produce fish! I will have an article on this shortly.

Anyway, after the sun went down, I was able to find a mound that came up to 7ft of water. It had grass and lillies on it but both sides of it sloped to 12 feet. This mound is no bigger than two or three boats side by side. Using the trolling motor we slowly worked around this sunken island. Minnows on aberdean hooks seemed to produce slightly better than jigs and minnows. Dad and I did some real damage on some good sized crappies. It took Brian a bit to dial in the depth but once he did, he also got in on the action.

I didn't count but I think we threw back around 30 crappies that didn't make the 10 inch minimum we set. It seemed like many fish were just under that. The 10 fish that we did keep however were much larger with most of them being 11 to 12 inches inches in size.

We did see several small boats come and go but never had anyone closer than 150 feet from us with there trolling motors going. I did wish I would have had some lighted bobbers or a light on board as I really think we could have done well after dark. At any rate, it was a good evening on the water with some nice fish thrown in once we found them.

Sorry for no pictures but I simply have not felt like taking many these days.

    Rich,

At least you went fishing. Skillet tried to KILL Ready2Fish, and myself.

BUT truth be told, that was the most fun I had ever had helping some one take down a tree.

Ready2Fish was WOUND UP, upon my arrival, he was locked and loaded with Becky jokes.

Skillet tore his backyard into a outdoor photo of brown mud that looked allot like a Becky's backside. <-- Per Jimmy.

Jimmy took off in his truck for some Gatorade, left his tail gate down, flung equipment all over the roads. He almost got away with it, but the neighbor walked over and advised us of his hasty retreat, and was ratted out.

I met Skillets Wife, who thought I may had been a GIRL, I was like HUH? I'd make a UGLY Woman, but glad to meet you. Hey, wait, WHATS Kevin been saying to make you think that?

Side note, as I don't have a chain saw, but did you know that some people are insecure about the size of their chainsaw bar? When Ready2Fish's BAR, was bigger then Skillets bar, well, Ready2Fish has to step in and finish the job. Here is little Jimmy, with his big bar chainsaw, finishing the job. Notice his intense gaze as he eyes up the job, and where to attack first...........

Skillet just hung his head, embarrassed ashamed, his chainsaw bar was to small.

AND that's my story, and am sticking to it..........

P.S. Do NOT mention Kevin's small chainsaw bar while fishing............ He may cry

Brian told me about Cousin Kev's tree issues. I was surpised that we didn't get the invite to help/participate in the festivities.

If those guy's have "Bar Envy", they would be ashamed to get the little saw out of the car then!!! I have a few of them that take two men and a small child (or Becky) to wield around.

The older you get, the longer the bar should be. If for no other reason than the fact that you don't have to bend down as far to cut something! Also, the older you get, the more likely you should run out and find someone much younger than yourself to do the job! So, again I'm surprised that I didn't get the call from Cousin Kev. Not saying he is old, but older than me!!!!!!

Maybe Kevin described his fishing friend as "Erin" and not "Aaron". Usually the spelling just tips them off. I can't comment on whether or not you would make an ugly woman but what I can say is that I am pretty certain that I would make one ugly woman.
