Steve Jr. was called out for storm damage to repair electrical lines from the last power outage Saturday morning, while power at his own house in Mulliken went out. Luckily he has a standby generator ready for such a need......but his wife wasn't schooled on the correct procedure to shut the main down, which breakers to also shut down so I made the quick trip up and got her back with power Sunday. Jr. got home from the thumb area last night, then off to Detroit this morning where there is still 24,000 without power.
I sure hope Mother Nature or Old Man winter get this weather figured out, I've had enough of this crud. I don't want to hear anyone complain about it being hot (if that ever happens) this summer.
Time for a cup of coffee, breakfast, and the start of a brand new day......and thankful I woke up on the right side of the lawn.

Some days it's hard to get motivated to go to work. I have a deck to build and this weather isn't deck building weather. I keep telling myself "get it built and next week you can go to the Detroit River".

On the positive side, I ran over and cemented the post holes yesterday. When I got home, I put the wheelbarrow on it's side in the driveway and went in the barn to get the hose. When I came back out, my lab, Knucklehead, had already washed it out for me. Now that's one good dog!

I hate when weather is so bad that I would rather stay at work then go home and find something else to do. That said, the weather is too crappy to make me really want to do anything. I know what is going to happen. It will break and then I will have more work to do than I can deal with.
So far on my list: Cut down all the old and standing corn from last year (about 3 acres). Disc about 8 acres of ground. Till 4 of those acres. Plant two acres of sugar beets, 3 acres of corn, spray and top plant 1 acre of alfalfa and clover, seed a new 1/4 acre clover plot and top dress with a cover crop, put in 3/4acres of forage... and that is just farming! I'm sure at some point in time the tractor will need oil and filters, grease all the fittings, change tiller oil, grease bearings, tighten chain drives, sharpen cutter blades, tighten tine bolts, the list goes on and on.
Then you add in all the fishing I want to do! Two years ago, my entire sugar beet crop was already in along with half my corn.
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
I see 3 different people have mentioned the Detroit River already this morning.
I am going to be #4.
I am also trying to get back down there as well. My busy family is making it difficult, but my weekend may look something like this.....
Thursday, Make sure boat is ready, all gear, and cover on........Ready to Roll
Friday PM, go to Alma for College kid, get his gear, and get him home, unload truck of his gear, load truck with camping gear, and clothes.
Saturday AM, Youngest Daughter, 1st Water Polo Tournament. Afterwards, Return home, hook up boat, drive down, go Fishing, test some stuff, ideas, when I am bored of Catch & Release, drive to Sterling, pitch tent, relax.
Sunday, Sleep in, then go fish, more testing, Fishing, heck find a shady spot on the river and take a nap in the boat, fish some more, use emergency bucket, sleep, fish, then back to sterling.
I could maybe launch right there @ Sterling, and test my planer boards as well.So its a toss up, on what the afternoon holds, and if I load those rods.
Monday, Sleep in again, Take down the tent, go fishing, drive home, eat Walleye.
The Following weekend is a Bay City Weekend, Avalon has a Scholar History State Finals @ Bay City Western High School on the 28th.
So the boats going there that weekend. she can compete, then fish with me, or ill drop her off any Grandpa & Grandma's, and go fishing myself.
Busy next two weekends if this weekend actually goes as planed.
Of course, its a plan, but does not always work out. I was silent, on it, but watch now that I spoke about it, something will wrench it up.
