There are days when they will outshine cranks but, we usually like to throw a couple of cranks with our crawler spread. One thing I've learned over the last few years, especially early in the morning, is to run my outside boards with cranks and run them up high in the water column. Even on days when they are hitting crawlers really well, your biggest fish will be on cranks! As the morning goes on and the crawlers take off, we adjust down on our cranks.

Another thing I have played with is running a three way swivel. On one end, I tie a two foot leader and affix that to a crank bait. On the other side of the three way, I tie a leader about 1 foot shorter than my rod and affix a crawler harness. I use the crank bait to take the harness down to depth. I do this to target suspended fish. Many times they will come up and look at the crank and drill the harness. Or, one attracts them and they hit the other! It is a great tool that I am still working with but love it so far.

Kicker motors are awesome. Although I troll with my TM a ton, the kicker has become so vital that I don't know how I did it without it. It gives me the ability to target areas that would not be conducive to targeting with certain wind situations. For a good quality read (sarcasm) read the article written by Mark Martin from a couple of months ago in regards to trolling harnesses and cranks (Woods N Water). After you read it, FLUSH IT DOWN THE TOILET!!!! Following his own advice might be the reason why he has not beaten Kevin or I in the last 8 tournaments he has entered!!!
Oh I would think give up my harness but m as you need to keep them home for a while as I always found myself giving up to early with the crank bait bite and run harness

On the side note I will be giving a 1st hand report on how the MK spotlock compares to MG and open to anyone wanting to see how it performs before buying one

Thanks Jim. Been wanting to hear the difference of the new system. Coming from you it should be good considering you had the older terrova spot lock, then mg, and now the new Mk.

Take a look at python steering from powertran. They are also authorized I troll dealers. It is a giant upgrade for a kicker motor offering over 1000 fine throttle settings, steering through the panel, button, or wireless, and "hunt speed" technologies.

As if I needed to drop another grand! Just about the time I get it right, I should be ready for a new boat

Bigger equals fiberglass for me. Unfortunately, Alumacraft doesn't make one. For as many of them that I have purchased or influenced the sale of, they should be sponsoring me!

I have been eye balling a 21 Foot Crestliner Raptor, with a 17 degree deadrise and Conversion rear seat.

Unfortunately when I look, my Dirt Button does a pucker, and my check book runs for cover.

Maybe a few more years, but until then, I still like my boat.

Just feels a bit small with two people in it.

This past weekend was fantastic, it was great to share boat space with 2 good guys, listening to all the lies, giving each other a hard time , but mainly just fishing.
Thanks for the very very good jerky Arron, I can't wait till that maple batch gets perfected.
