Oh but I know Steve would let me sleep there. You on the other hand...

I have an engagement on Friday otherwise, I would come down then. I'm not sure about Saturday yet however.

    Thanks Steve,
Yes, Bob and I will be there. Looking forward to meeting everyone, maybe learning some crappie fishing tips, catching some crappie and having fun! Is there an agenda or something for the event? Is there an actual crappie fun fishing tournament on Saturday or Sunday? Is there a menu of suggested items to bring for the potluck, or gatherings?

    Yaaayyyy Jeri's first post!!! Welcome

Flytier is the host of the event Jeri, I guess I don't know if (maybe I missed it )we are ofiicially having a mini tournament.....maybe he'll shed some light.

As far as food, we generally just bring something easy for our Friday night liars club get together.....I am bringing some of that smoked King Mackeral fish I caught in Florida made into fish dip with crackers. Years past I've brought venison or goose sausage sliced with crackers. Whatever you bring is fine.

As far as crappie catching tips and tricks, I'll be listening in too. I never caught a crappie until joining this group and I'm still learning!

Glad you are going to make it

Man, with all the newbies we're going to wear poor Wilber out. Welcome Jeri. I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Aaron, Waffle Farms said they put you "just a stones throw" from us. The way you throw like a girl I guess you're ON our site. I told them to make sure you were down wind. On the serious side, are you bringing a fryer for the fries? If not, I have one I can bring, just need a tank for it. Let me know

First order of business, WELCOME Jeri.....

Second, I have no tips for Crappie, I'm Polish, and really don't know what the heck I'm doing.... So do not watch me fish, or imitate my methods......

Third, SpartanNation, can can not catch, but he is great at retrieving. He is like a lovable although more hairy version of a Golden Lab. If you by chance toss your keys into the lake, he will go get them. Just tap him on the forehead, and give him a treat.

    Jerry,
I have a tank, you think a 20# be enough for the weekend, or should I fill up the Hog Roaster 80#?

Planning on bringing the Fryer, the oil, the Fry Cutter, the Potato's, and seasonings.

May I suggest rubber boots? The BS tends to get a little thick to wade through with normal shoes.

You will know Aaron the minute you see him. He is a slightly more robust version of the leprechaun trying to steal the lucky charms. The difference being that he is usually slathered in some sort of sun deterant and speaks in Polish tounges. He has been known to "air mail" an errant toss or two so don't ask him to "pass" you anything!

Jerry "might" have some sort of baseball catcher's equipment on as I am told he has the hands of a quadriplegic monkey.

I on the other hand have been known to give the shirt off my back (litterally) which isn't a sight to behold as I appear to have a fur tanktop on. I have also won the "son of the year award" from a friend of mines mom! It appears she liked me more.

On a serious note, you will not find a better group of people than the crappie dot com community. As you can see, many people meet for the first time and quickly become friends. We all get along at events and as friends outside of events because we are all like minded individuals. We all share a common bond. We would all give the shirts off our back, lend a hand to anyone that needs it, offer information, tips, tricks, and places to go. As I said, we get along because we are all like minded. I don't often converse with many people. Never really felt the need to be around people (for the most part) but... the majority of the friends I have and the phone numbers in my phone are members from Crappie dot com. That should tell you something!

Although I am not hosting this event, I can tell you what to expect. Friday evening is a chance to get together, catch up with old friends and make aquantances with new ones. It usually takes place around a common campfire and includes some snacks and maybe and adult beverage or two. Our events are always family friendly but we tend to draw the most children in the summer events. Feel free to bring your favorite cheese and crackers, sausage, dips, or other snake type foods. Don't forget your lawn chairs. Usually, the following days events will be passed by the camp host.

These friendly events are a ton of fun. Sometimes, when there isn't an agenda, it is fun to throw 5 bucks in the pot and see who comes out on top. Although it is centered around crappie, these lakes hold a ton of other fish. We have done odd species in the past. Don't worry if you have not been to the lake. Many members that arrive early will often share their success stories. Or, tell you where not to go as a result of their lack of success.

Saturday is usually the event and from everything I am seeing regarding the weather, it could shape up to be a hot one! The fishing starts in the morning and concludes early afternoon.

A time will be set for the pot luck. Normally, in the summer event, people usually sign up to bring certain things. In the fall events, there usually isn't as many people. I suggest that everyone bring their own table settings (IE plates, silverware, napkins, and drinks). This way, not one person will be assigned to have to bring these items. In the future, our general fund allows for the purchase of these items as we have created a fund that should be self sustaining moving forward.

As for a dish to pass. It is just like any other pot luck. I remember seeing that Tim posted something in regards to a seafood type theme but I could be mistaken. Your favorite recipe for dish to pass events are always recommended. I've gotten some of my favorite recipes from events like these. Judy's taco salad, Carol's oriental salad, Michigan Man's caviar just to name a few. The old stand by of potatoe salad, meatballs, spaghetti salad, and so on.

Someone should remember ketchup (for the fries) and hot sauce (because it is good on everything). And, if you really want the best fish dip and snack dip, look no further than Sandy's award winning (it isn't but it should be) koop's mustard dip!!! Wanda's beans are pretty darn good too. And Gary and Tonda's goose jerkey. And anything that comes out of Tim and Dar's crock pot... As I said, so many favorites! You should NOT be hungry.

One last thing.... WHO is bringing the fish?
