    Default Help needed

Maybe one of you fine crappie fisher persons could teach a fellow fisherman how to catch crappie. Help neededHelp needed. Went out with a buddy Monday after work with high ambition and a message from my wife( don't come back with any walleye)Help neededHelp needed. So we started out shallow to deep, weeds to wood, open water to points, flats, no crappie at all not even a small one. Seems as if I have forgot how to catch these critters. Any tips or tricks are welcome. LOL

    Skillet,

    What lake were you located?

Duncan over by Caledonia, (Not far from us) has been good to me in the past.

Check along the West bank on the North side of the lake. Better yet, I'm not typing this all out, here is a map.

    1. Minnow under a slip bobber, through all the brush and wood piles.
    2. As above along the lilly pads next to the retainer wall towards the pontoon to the West.
    3. All around the Willow tree
    4. Under the Willow tree
5 Along the edge of the drain creek. Have found them suspended.

I have seen a couple of old guys tossing plastics, and cranking them back in SLOW, and getting some. One of them did it right by me once. Asked how I was doing, and continued on........

SO I tried it, and for 45 minutes of testing, and trying ever color combination that I had of jig, and tube, INCLUDING matching what he had, I had caught nothing. Not sure why, but its "Do-able" but I usually use just a minnow.

Its good fishing until the water skiers come out. If I go on a weekend, I am off the lake by 10am. More cuz I don't want to get burnt, and the skiers are starting to come out.

AVOID on a holiday weekend at all costs. The locals at times are NUTS

Kevin, I suggest you fish in the water and not in the bars.

Dang, I was hoping to get crappie tips from you. Now what?

Boat has been high and dry since Alpena. Although I have my eyes on a perch trip. That should perk mommas ears up

I did not think it was possible for Kevin to not catch crappie!!! , you always seem to sniff a few out!!
I have never fished in the late summer or fall much, but when I do , I always start by long lining the deeper weed beds first, target points and any sharp inside bends, for me I start at 8-10 ft deep and go up or down from that. Once you find one, toss a buoy and flip a jig at them or a minnow with a plain hook.
I also am looking at an early oct perch trip...simcoe Canada, hammer time!!!
also will be fishing the CUSA classic tournament in Kentucky the end of October.
    no elk hunting this year.

John, I'll let you know when things get going over on Erie. Close trip and can usually fill the boat in short order.

Maybe I can talk Steve into playing hookie for a day. That new boat of his is way too pretty, I'm sure a bunch of perch slime on the carpet would do it good.
