I played hookie yesterday afternoon to enjoy the beautiful weather and hopefully catch a few fish. Put the boat in at Morrison in Ionia County about 2pm and started marking fish right away 10 feet down in 16-18 fow. We rigged with 1/16 oz jigs and assorted plastic and let the wind drift us. My buddy was also fishing a hali and red worn under a slip bobber. First drift put 4 nice crappie and a perch in the box. After a couple of drifts found that a Big Bite tube in red/yellow/white was the best color. We fished till dark and ended up with 33 crappie and 5 perch. Crappie were 9-10 inches with a few 11" caught just before dark. The perch were 8-9. Water temp was in the 60 degree range. Plastic took 90% of the fish.
