    Default Coming and Going,,,(pics)

This morning I got the bluegills staged on their way in, and the crappies staged on their way out, and they both just happened be in the same area. Micro jigs, 12 - 18 inches under the surface, with or without a bobber, in 3 - 5 feet of water or so. Specks on single lily pads, and open water pockets between lilies. Gills in same lily pad areas, but relating to wood with nearby lilies, and the down current side. It took about 30 minutes to figure out what they were up to, but once I did, it was pretty much non stop good fish. I guy can't ask for more.

It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

Thanks Don. It sure was fun. Big bull gills are so fun. It was really crazy to see the two species in such close proximity to each other, and yet so far apart. It was literally just a matter of a foot or two one side or the other of a stump or lily pad that would determine whether it was going to be a crappie or bluegill. And even crazier, was that the big female gills, still full of eggs, were no where near the stumps, but were instead holding 12 inches under the first small groups of lilies off shore as long as those lilies were in at least 3 feet of water and no more than 6 feet of water.

I hit a similar situation once before. Fly fishing along pads with both gills and crappie in same holes. Had to figure out it took a quick trigger on the gills, but let the crappie hold it a second. Too much fun.

The end result. With some homemade onion rings and corn on the cob.
